Yield Yardstick is an editorial comparator built around a simple frustration: most writing about habits, planning, and focus is sold as a single system that's supposed to work for everyone. In practice, what makes a routine stick has as much to do with your schedule, your workplace, your temperament, and plain trial and error as it does with the method itself.

So instead of ranking methods, we lay them side by side. Each comparison walks through what a method asks of you, what it tends to offer in return, who it tends to suit, and — as honestly as we can put it — what the evidence actually supports. Two related approaches, the same ten criteria, no scoreboard.

What "yardstick" means here

A yardstick is a tool for measuring, not a trophy. We use it the same way: to give you a consistent way to look at two methods next to each other, not to crown a winner. The measurements are the same for every comparison; what you do with them is yours to decide.

How the site is organized

The library holds all 30 published comparisons, organized into seven everyday categories. The comparator lets you pick any two related methods and see them compared on the spot, even pairings we haven't written a full article about yet. Our methodology page explains the criteria and evidence labels behind every comparison in detail.

What this site is not

Yield Yardstick is an educational and editorial resource. It is not a source of medical or psychological advice, it does not diagnose conditions, and it does not promise that any method will change your productivity, mood, or behavior. See our disclaimer for the full picture.
